The Old Colony Building

The Old Colony building was constructed circa 1915. The exterior walls are constructed of terra cotta, brick and limestone masonry and fenestrated with wood framed hung windows. BTLA is the exterior wall restoration architect team member for the adaptive re-use of this building conversion to student housing.
BTLA performed an investigation of the condition of the building, prepared reports with recommendations for repairs, prepared construction documents for the exterior wall restoration, and performed construction phase services including periodic site observation.
The project was performed to the U.S. Secretary of the Interior Standards for historic properties and progress was chronicled by various media outlets such as Curbed Chicago. Since the project's completion, the work has been reviewed by Chicago Tribune's Blair Kamin and received attention in various industry publications including Chicagoland Building & Environments and US Builders Review.
